CS2 Console Commands Worth Knowing

Most command lists are copied from CS:GO and half the entries do nothing now. These are the ones that still work, grouped by what you would actually want them for.

Turning the console on

Settings → Game → Enable Developer Console → Yes. The default key is tilde, immediately left of the 1 key. If that key does not exist on your layout, rebind it in Settings → Keyboard/Mouse → UI Keys.

Connecting and network

connect 159.69.56.27:27016

Joins a server directly. The other one worth having is the network graph, which shows your real ping, packet loss and frame rate together:

cq_netgraph 1

Practice commands

  • sv_cheats 1 — required before any of the rest work, and only possible on your own server.
  • sv_infinite_ammo 1 — endless magazines for spray practice.
  • mp_limitteams 0 and mp_autoteambalance 0 — stop being moved while practising.
  • sv_grenade_trajectory_prac_pipreview 1 — shows where your grenade will land while you line it up.
  • noclip — fly through the map to check an angle from the other side.
  • bot_kick — clear the bots out before drilling lineups.

Demo review

Playing back your own matches is the fastest way to improve, and three commands make it bearable:

demoui

That opens the playback controls. Add spec_show_xray 1 to see players through walls while reviewing, and demo_timescale 2 to move through the quiet parts quickly.

Commands that no longer exist

net_graph is gone, replaced by cq_netgraph. Many of the old rate and interpolation commands were removed when CS2 moved to sub-tick, and setting them does nothing. If a guide still recommends cl_interp values, it was written for a different game.
