CS2 Mirage Smokes That Change Rounds

Mirage is the map most players spend the most hours on and the map where the fewest of them can throw a reliable smoke. Four lineups is all it takes to stop being that player.

Why four and not forty

Utility only helps if it lands the same way every time, under pressure, without a thirty-second setup. A player with four automatic lineups contributes more than one with forty they have to think about, because the ones that need thinking never get thrown at the right moment.

The T-side essentials

  • Window smoke from T spawn — the single most important throw on the map. It cuts the CT mid player out of the round and enables everything else.
  • CT smoke for the A execute, so the site cannot be held from the back while you take control.
  • Jungle smoke, which stops the most common A rotation and the most common re-peek.
  • A stairs flash over the wall for the B apartments push, thrown by a teammate who does not then walk into it.

The CT-side essentials

On CT the two throws worth automating are the mid smoke that stops a fast connector take, and the A ramp smoke that buys your team the seconds needed to rotate. Both are retreat tools rather than aggression tools, and both are usually thrown too late — the moment to use them is when you hear the push, not when you see it.

How to actually learn them

Open Mirage on your own server with sv_cheats on and the grenade trajectory preview enabled. Throw each lineup twenty times in a row until you can find the alignment without looking for it. Then throw them once each at the start of every practice session for a week. That is roughly two hours in total, and it will outlast anything else you do this month.
