CS2 Mouse Sensitivity and eDPI
There is no correct sensitivity, but there is a range almost every good player lives inside — and a habit that stops more players improving than any number ever could.
What eDPI is
eDPI is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. It is the only number worth comparing between players, because 400 DPI at 2.0 and 800 DPI at 1.0 are the same physical movement.

The range that works
Most Counter-Strike 2 professionals sit between roughly 700 and 1,000 eDPI, which works out at somewhere around 25 to 40 centimetres of mousepad for a full 360-degree turn. That is much lower than most newer players run, and it is low for a reason: at that speed the small corrections that decide a duel are made with the arm rather than flicked with the wrist.
Testing whether yours is too high
- Aim at a head-height wall mark. If your crosshair regularly overshoots and has to come back, sensitivity is too high.
- Try to hold a spray on a single spot at ten metres. If the pattern wanders sideways, your hand cannot make corrections that small.
- Check how far your hand travels for a 180. If it is a wrist flick, you have no room left for precision.
- Watch where your mouse ends up after a fight. Constantly re-centring means you are fighting the pad, not the opponent.
The real mistake
Changing sensitivity is what stops most players improving. Aim is muscle memory, and muscle memory needs a constant to build on. A mediocre sensitivity kept for six months beats a perfect one changed every fortnight, every single time.
Pick something in the range above, write it down, and do not touch it again until you have played a hundred matches. If it still feels wrong then, change it once — by a small amount — and commit again.
Windows and acceleration
Keep Windows pointer speed at the sixth notch, which is 1:1, and turn off Enhance Pointer Precision. Turn off any acceleration in your mouse software as well. Acceleration means the same hand movement produces different in-game distances depending on speed, which is precisely what muscle memory cannot work with.
